Installing email templates

Outlook 2010

NOTE: Microsoft have re-written how email templates (or themes as they have been re-named) are handled in 2007 & 2010. Email templates designed to work with earlier versions of Outlook or Outlook Express may no longer display correctly and you may need a new one to be constructed.

Step 1

To install a theme in Outlook 2010 you need to save the HTML file we have sent you into a specific folder. As this folder is usually hidden, the easiest way to find it is to type a special command in the Windows “run” box.

Simply click the Windows “Start” button at the bottom left of your screen, then click on “Run...”

Now copy and paste the following line of text into the dialog box and click OK. This will open up your stationery folder:

Please substitute drive for the drive that your operating system is on for example a standard installation of windows will usualy be on your C drive.

Windows 7 and Windows Vista
drive:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery

Windows 7 and Windows Vista 64-bit with Outlook 2010 32-bit
drive:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery

Windows XP
drive:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery

Save the HTML file we sent you into this folder – the easiest way to do this is to first save the file to your desktop, then drag it into the now open window.

Close the window, and open Outlook.

Step 2

Windows Vista and Windows 7
Select “File > Options > Mail > Stationery" from the menu bar

Windows XP
Select “Tools > Options” from the menu bar.

Click on the “Mail Format” tab.

Under the “Stationery and Fonts” section select “Stationery and Fonts”.

Select the “Personal Stationery” tab and then click on “Theme”.

Locate your stationery in the theme list (it will be listed with the same name as the HTML file we sent you) and then click OK.

Click OK, then OK again.

And that's it, your email template will now be applied to your outgoing emails by default.
